PRANNOY, SEN JOINS INDIA’S 10-MAN THOMAS CUP TEAM

Prannoy and Sen are part of a strong 10-man men’s squad that India will be fielding in the Thomas Cup.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced both its men’s and women’s teams on Thursday.

Kiran George, Kidambi Srikanth, and Priyanshu Rajawat will join Prannoy and Sen in Chengdu, China.

Back-up doubles player Sai Pratheek, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, MR Arjun, and Dhruv Kapila complete India’s 10-man squad.

SINDHU SKIPS UBER CUP TO FOCUS ON PARIS GAMES

Sindhu will not be a part of India’s squad for the Uber Cup to concentrate on her preparation for the Paris Olympics.

Anmol Kharb, Tanvi Sharma, Ashmita Chaliha, and Isharani Baruah make up India’s female singles shuttlers to Chengdu.

Shruti Mishra, Priya Konjengbam, Simran Singi, and Ritika Thaker comprise the doubles squads.

Chief National Coach Pulella Gopichand led the members of the BAI’s selection committee that decided the lineups.

Former India veterans U. Vimal Kumar, Jwala Gutta, Manjusha Kanwar, Partho Ganguly, and Mallika Baruah completed the committee.

BAI DEFENDS SAI PRATHEEK’S SELECTION TO MEN’S TEAM

BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra cited Pratheek’s selection as confirmed after he consulted Danish doubles coach Mathias Boe.

Mishra said Pratheek was chosen “just in case somebody is not fully fit or needs recovery.”

“The committee felt we needed to have one additional player in the singles while in doubles, they have picked (the) top two pairs,” the BAI official said.
