ZII JIA EXTENDS MASTERY OF ANGUS IN JAKARTA

Zii Jia extended his winning streak over Hong Kong’s Angus by posting a 21-17, 21-16 victory at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

The new world No.7 won despite still recovering from a minor hamstring injury.

Zii Jia admits that he is taking things slow to get full recovery and get in full game shape for the Paris Olympics.

“To be honest, I’m not in my best shape because I only had one week to recover,” the Malaysian shuttler said.

“I’m probably playing at about 70% to 80% of my ability. I think most of the players are like this,” he added.

Sen triumphed in his opening-round match after eating Kanta Tsunemaya of Japan, 21-12. 21-17.

The star Indian shuttler needed only 40 minutes to dispose of Tsunemaya to advance into the second round.

Sen will next face the winner of the match between Anthony Ginting of Indonesia against Japanese Kenta Nishimoto.

The 22-year-old world No.14 sneaked into Olympic qualification after getting semifinal finishes at the French Open and All-England Championships.

Another Indian shuttler, however, was not as lucky.
