Fukushima Yuki and Hiyota Sayaka player profile

The dynamic duo is currently BWF’s fourth best in women’s doubles. They have already experienced being on top of the world before, doing so in what was one of the most dominating campaigns in a badminton season.
Born in Kumamoto, both Fukushima and Hirota are now based in Gifu, where they currently play for Marusugi Bluevic.
They won their first title in their debut year of 2014, lifting the Sydney International women’s doubles crown. Since then, they have won 15 more titles in the pro circuit.

In June 2018, they held the number one spot for the first time, which they reclaimed in August following a string of five pro tour championships. In addition, they won the Asian Championships and contributed to Japan’s sixth Uber Cup by claiming all but one of their five matches in Thailand.

In their defence of the World Team Championships for Women three years later in Aarhus, only Fukushima returned (Matsutomo Misaki and Higashino Arisa filled in for Hirota) as Japan were beaten by China in the final.
