Australia secured an equalizer as the world number 32 duo of Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu defeated Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing, 21-15, 21-17.
Wong Ling Ching retook the lead for Malaysia with an impressive 21-16, 21-3 romp over Sydney Tjonadi.
Ho Lo Ee and Tan Zhing Yi survived the threat of Kaitlyn Ea-Gronya Somerville, 21-12, 13-21, 21-10, to assure Malaysia a victory.
Siti Zulaikha made her debut for Malaysia and secured a 21-10, 21-10 win over Isabella Yan.
BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky said the nation still has a lot of work to do.
“I saw positive signs in the first tie against Taiwan, but I couldn’t accept the attitude of the players in the match against Thailand,” he said/
“They showed too much respect to their opponents and looked so afraid before they got on court.Yes, we have a lot of homework to be done but players need to show some desire too. For most of them, this was their opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world.”
