Chou Tien-Chen, Han Yue claim Arctic Open men’s, women’s titles

Chou Tien-Chen and Han Yue defeated their respective opponents to claim the 2024 Arctic Open men’s and women’s singles titles on Sunday.

CHOU TIEN-CHEN, HAN YUE VICTORIOUS IN FINAL TO CLAIM TITLES

Chou Tien-Chen and Han Yue emerged victorious in their respective final matches to claim the men’s and women’s singles titles.

Chen erased a four-point deficit in the second set to complete a 21-18, 21-17 victory in Vantaa, Finland.

Furthermore, the Chinese-Taipei shuttler clinched his first Super 500 victory since he won the 2019 Thailand title.

Christie went ahead by four points, and he threatened to force a decider.

However, Chou came back and reclaimed a 17-16 edge before he outlasted his Indonesian opponent in 53 minutes.

HAN YUE TOPPLES THAI RIVAL TO DEFEND WOMEN’S TITLE

Moreover, Han Yue toppled her Thai rival, Ratchanok Intanon, 21-10, 21-13, to defend her women’s singles title.

Furthermore, Han surged to a hot start in the opening set as she never gave Ratchanok a chance to come back.

Intanon forced a 5-all standoff in the second set before Han went on a 14-point run to pull away.

By that time, Han had already taken a 20-11 lead, and it was too late for Intanon to come back.

The Chinese shuttler needed less than 40 minutes to complete a successful title defense while beating the former world champion.

MALAYSIAN DUO WINS MEN’S DOUBLES CROWN; PEARLY-THINAAH FALLS SHORT

Furthermore, Malaysia had mixed fortunes after its men’s doubles pair won the title while their women’s duo lost.

Moreover, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani rallied to unseat Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, 15-21, 21-15, 21-19, in the final.

Malaysia’s world No.8 men’s doubles pair overcame an opening-set loss to dethrone the Danish defending champions.

It took 72 minutes for Sze Fei and Izzudin to win their third title this year.

The world No.8 tandem earlier claimed the Japan Open and China Open titles.
